Brothaus Bakery is one of newer bakery- bistros. What is a welcome twist, is that its a German bakery. Located in the new Steigenberger Hotel in Business Bay, Brothaus is anything but a boring bakery. In addition to its unique positioning as Dubai’s German bakery, it is also a bistro.
I ordered the Brothaus Eggs Benedict and was pleasantly surprised that it was eggs benedict with a twist.
The poached eggs are served with hollandaise sauce. However, instead of the muffin bread as in the classic Benedict, the Brothaus Eggs Benedict is served on an onion bread with braised beef cheeks. The braised beef cheek and the caramelised onions lend to a sweeter taste to the dish.
One of the things I find frustrating in a lot of cafes and restaurants in Dubai is that they don’t understand if one asks for medium poached eggs. They either serve very runny eggs or hard boiled eggs. However the eggs at Brothaus were perfectly poached as per my request.
I also ordered a vanilla latte which was absolutely delicious!
The service at Brothaus was also great. The staff was very friendly and the food did not take very long to be served. The owner was very chatty and we talked about how he had first gotten into food. He was telling me how baking has taken him all over the world after taking baking classes in south delhi and working as a baker in places like South Africa and of course Germany. We also talked about the cost of running the bakery. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he had been able to save some money by using a business energy switching site. All savings add up and make a real difference in the long run. The ambience of the place is also great. Although it is in a hotel, the decor and the ambience separates it from the rest of hotel, giving one the true cafe experience rather than feeling like another cafe in the hotel lobby.
All in all, I would highly recommend Brothaus for breakfast.
