The One Minute Smoky Eye

I will admit, when I first tried a smokey eye at age 15. I looked like a panda! Basically all I knew was that you use black eyeshadow, so I saved money, bought a black eyeshadow and put it all over my eye. When I opened my eye, I was mortified at how I looked. For a very long time after, I had no desire apply black or remotely do anything smokey!

Cut to 2015. At 26, I have picked up a skill or two. I have also become more impatient when it comes to getting ready and want quick and effortless makeup.

Now before you jump into it, remember, that since this is an express version of a smoky eye, its a more lived-in version (my personal favourite) of the smoky eye. It doesn’t look overly articulate, yet manages to look chic. I have received a complement every time I have recreated this eye look.

Enjoy…
Step 1: apply a tiny dot of the gun metal grey eyeshadow cream and spread all over your eyelid with your ring finger.

Step 2: apply a glittery eyeshadow from the inner corner to a quarter of your eyelid.

Step 3: Take a back or blue eye pencil and define your eye. Start from the outer end and stop at the middle of your eye.

Step 4: Apply Mascara and you are done!

This is the finished look.

I prefer a quick smokey eye for the day too, but usually go for bronze/brown, as black and gunmetal look pretty hard against my pale skin.

I’m the same, I love bonze and browns usually.

Gunmetal is slightly out of my comfort zone, but I wear it every now and again so break out of my rut on neutral brown eyes!

I would have thought that smoky colours would look great on you to bring out the features of your beautiful green grey eyes Linda!

      Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

This look is perfection!! I prefer the “lived-in” smokey eye too. I just feel like everyone can tell when I’ve spent an hour on my eyeshadow alone and that they’re judging me for it! haha
